Web ARX Security

Securing websites can be a tricky business, but it’s something I pride myself at being pretty good at.  However, when you’re setting up and managing multiple WordPress sites, it can be hard to keep on top of them all at once.

Step in Web ARX Security (affiliate link).

In their own words…

Website firewall, uptime monitoring and domain reputation checks on a single dashboard. Perfect for digital agencies, freelancers and for website owners to keep the sites secured from attacks.

And you really do get quite a lot for your money!  Features include…

  • Web Application Firewall (WAF)
  • Brute-force attack protection (including reCaptcha)
  • Malicious traffic blocking
  • Uptime monitoring
  • Defacement monitoring
  • Blacklist monitoring
  • Software vulnerability monitoring

In addition to this, they also check you’ve got things like your security related response headers set, your website redirects to HTTPS, and other bits and pieces to tighten up your website’s security.

You can sign up for email alerts in order to get alerts when issues are detected, or there’s Slack integration – the Slack integration wasn’t initially working for me, but their live chat staff were very helpful and got this issue resolved for me promptly.

It works with WordPress, giving you a plugin to either install manually (which comes pre-configured – very nice touch!) or they can do it for you (although I opted not to give them my password to facilitate this).

Having said this, they are planning to make the service work with any PHP-based CMS in the future.  Their product roadmap is public and looks like they’re heading in a good direction.

And if you’re super quick, you can grab a bargain on AppSumo (affiliate link), with a lifetime licence for 10 sites costing just $49.  You can also stack them, so 20 sites for $98, and so on.  Hurry, only whilst stocks last!
