Adding humans.txt

You may (or may not) have noticed that I’ve recently updated my website.  Before I did that, I had created a humans.txt file.

What is a humans.txt file, you ask?

It’s an initiative for knowing the people behind a website. It’s a TXT file that contains information about the different people who have contributed to building the website.

You simply create a text file, call it “humans.txt” and then place it in the root of the site.   You can then link to it by placing a <link> element in the head of your HTML source…

<link rel="author" href="" type="text/plain">

Having moved my website to WordPress, I’ve now updated the contents of my file to be…

/* TEAM */
  Creator: Rik Lewis
  Twitter: @rik_lewis

/* THANKS */
  WordPress ( - free and priceless CMS
  Cloudflare ( - makes my site faster and safer
  Report URI ( - real-time security reporting

/* SITE */
  Language: English
  Doctype: HTML5
  Tools: Atom, Gulp, Git, Filezilla

You can also view my current “humans.txt” file to see if it’s changed by the time you read this.

I like the idea, even though my site is really just created by me, as it still gives me the opportunity to thank the tools and services I’ve used to help me.  I’ll also be adding this file to other sites that I work on and build in the future.
